Operation Slowdown Results During the 24 hours of Operation Slowdown from 07.00 Friday to 07.00 Sat, GoSafe checked the speed of 96,838 vehicles, of these 364 were detected travelling in excess of the speed limit. On the N20 near Buttevant, Cork we picked up a vehicle travelling at 92 km/h in a 50 km/h zone and in Kildare on the R418 we detected a vehicle travelling at 139 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

During the previous Operation Slowdown over the June Bank Holiday Weekend, GoSafe checked the speed of 53,469 vehicles, of these 321 were detected travelling in excess of the speed limit.

Chief Superintendent Michael O Suillivan of the Garda National Traffic Bureau thanks the 96,474 drivers checked over the 24 hour period of operation Slowdown, who were driving within the speed limit permitted.
